Cute Fall Outfit Ideas for Women and Men 2024
The fall season is one of our favorite times of year, so we put together a fun guide for cute Fall outfit ideas for women and men in 2024 …because, you know just how much we love to coordinate our outfits! We love it when the air gets crisp (even if it’s still warm outside in SoCal), pumpkin spice lattes make their long-awaited return (have you had a PSL yet? If not, you’re late!), and we get to embrace cozy layers and showcase our personal layered styles. As the leaves turn and temperatures drop, a fall wardrobe should strike a balance between comfort, functionality, and flair. Whether you’re dressing for a pumpkin patch visit, an apple-picking day, or a special event, fall is the perfect time to experiment with trendy pieces and create chic looks for casual days, date nights, and professional looks.

Cute Fall Outfits for Her
Let’s start with the ladies… get ready to get cozy and inspired for shopping and pairing!
1. Cozy Layers with Chunky Sweaters
Chunky sweaters are a quintessential part of any fall closet. For a laid-back yet stylish look, pair an oversized sweater with high-waisted jeans or straight-leg jeans. In the photo above, I even added a cozy jacket on top! I kept the jacket length shorter so my oversized sweater would hang just below. Add ankle boots or loafers for a chic vibe and throw on a statement scarf for a pop of color. For minimal effort days, this ensemble is the perfect outfit, especially if you throw your hair up in a top bun!

2. Flirty and Feminine Dresses
I love dresses! I have a closet full because I can’t seem to ever get rid of any (dress hoarder probs? Maybe…) thinking I will layer them even in the Fall and Winter months. This season is a great time to try the greatest and latest dresses, yes, even when it’s cold outside! I opt for maxi dresses, there are some with wool or thicker material that are warmer!). I choose earthy tones or Fall prints and shy away from brighter colors, save those for summer! Style them with knee boots and a faux fur coat for a chic look. If you’re heading to an event like a holiday gathering or even a bridal shower, you can pair a slip skirt with a cozy elegant sweater or a sleeveless sweater with a jacket, and faux suede pumps is an elegant yet modern choice.

3. Playful Plaids and Mini Skirts
Plaid is hit or miss for me. I am partciular when it comes to plaid, so I don’t wear it too often. But it is a classic fall fashion staple! One that is very popular is plaid mini skirts. I like to pair them with long-sleeved tops or black sweaters and finish the look with cute knee-high boots, brown or black! For a more casual fall outfit, layer a denim jacket or an oversized blazer with it to complete the look with a trendy edge. Throwing in some shiny black combat boots takes edge to another level!

4. Elevated Casual with Leather Accents
If you’ve been following us for some time, you know how much Paul and I love all things leather! You can watch our video here on our favorite leather accessories:
Leather leggings and leather trousers are excellent staples for trendy fall outfits, vegan leather is a great option. Combine them with a white t-shirt, a tailored blazer, and ankle boots for an everyday style that’s effortlessly cool. For a night out, swap the t-shirt for a cute sparkly top or black dresses with leather boots to keep it edgy yet feminine.

5. Sophisticated Outerwear
Nothing says autumn elegance quite like a trench coat, if you don’t have a trench coat, a long pea coat works great too! Pair it with wide-leg jeans or dark wash denim for a polished fall look. For more warmth, opt for faux fur coats or bomber jackets for a youthful and cozy feel. I don’t care if they say skinny jeans are out, I still love them! So they work great with boots and a trench too!

Cute Fall Outfits for Him
Moving on to the men… get ready to step outside the box, boys!

1. Layering Essentials
For men, fall weather is all about mastering cozy layers, and I will say that Paul is really good at layering! A leather jacket or denim jacket over a long sleeve top is a great layering piece that works for both casual fall outfits and more refined occasions. If you wear a collared long sleeve like Paul’s favorites from Twillory, it adds an even more elevated look! Add skinny jeans or cargo pants to the mix and finish with sleek ankle boots or combat boots with rolled up pants for edginess.

2. Tailored and Polished Looks
When it comes to professional looks or special events, a tailored blazer paired with white jeans (if you’re cool with rebelling against no white after Labor Day) or straight-leg jeans is a good and easy combination. Opt for olive green or bring in some new colors you don’t normally wear to embrace the latest trends. A pair of leather pants can also add a modern twist to this look. Paul has yet to boldly rock a pair of leather pants, but I can feel it in his not-too-far future. :)

3. Cozy Knitwear
Men’s cozy knitwear options, like chunky sweaters and oversized fits, are perfect for casual days. I love cozying up to Paul in one! These pieces pair seamlessly with dark wash denim and ankle boots for a rugged yet stylish vibe.

4. Statement Accessories
Accessories like a statement scarf in a bold color or plaid pattern are perfect for adding personality to men’s fall outfits. They’re not just practical but also elevate the overall ensemble, giving a chic vibe. If you’re not a scarf guy, don’t forget hats, a plaid pocket square and a man bag are always an option if you like to accessorize!

5. Weekend-Ready Casual Styles
For weekends at the pumpkin patch or apple picking, a bomber jacket layered over a white t-shirt and cargo pants is effortlessly cool. If you don’t like cargos, no worries, any sort of casual jean works! Add sneakers, like Paul’s favorites, or ankle boots for a versatile outfit that transitions from day to night.

Unisex Fall Staples
1. Denim Jacket Love: A denim jacket is an essential in every fall closet. It’s a perfect way to add texture and depth to your fall wardrobe, whether styled over a cozy cardigan or layered with a crop top and high-waisted jeans. Both Paul and I have a couple different denim jackets. Here are our favorites.
2. Neutral Tones and Pops of Color: Earthy tones like olive green, camel, and beige dominate fall fashion. But don’t shy away from new colors like burnt orange, burgundy, or mustard. A pop of color can transform any outfit into a chic vibe, but it’s also important to have some Fall colored staples in your closet for quick fashion decisions.
3. Capsule Wardrobes for the Cooler Months: Building a capsule wardrobe ensures you’ll have trendy fall outfits that mix and match effortlessly. Include staples like a trench coat, leather blazer, oversized sweater, solid Fall color shorts, plaid skirt and scarves, cozy knitwear, and faux suede are all excellent choices.

- Embrace Accessories: Hats, scarves, and boots are the perfect way to elevate your look.
- Keep It Personal: Fall is the time of year to reflect your personal style with cute tops, leather leggings, and trendy pieces. Sometimes I like to rebel against the trends! I still wear white after Labor Day! I also like to sometimes wear pops of bold summer colors on occasion. It’s YOUR STYLE. YOUR PERSONALITY! Go for it my friends!
